Fireflies Setup

Connect your Fireflies.ai account to enable meeting transcript access in your AI agents.

Overview

The Fireflies integration allows agents to search meeting transcripts, access conversation details, review action items, and find specific discussions. Before connecting, your organization must have Fireflies integration enabled, you need a Fireflies.ai account with recorded meetings, and you'll need an API key from Fireflies.

Getting Your API Key

Start by going to app.fireflies.ai and signing in to your account. Navigate to SettingsAPI & Integrations, find the API section, and click Generate API Key. Copy the key when it appears—it's only shown once—and keep it secure.

Connecting Fireflies

Go to the Integrations page in Gen8 and find Fireflies in the list. Click Connect, paste your Fireflies API key, and click Save. The connection is tested automatically. Once successful, the status shows as connected with your account info displayed.

Using Fireflies in Agents

The Fireflies Search tool searches across your transcripts:

User: What did we discuss in last week's product meeting?

AI: [Searches Fireflies] In the Product Planning meeting on March 15th:

Key Topics: Q2 roadmap review, Feature prioritization, Resource allocation

The Fireflies Transcript tool accesses full meeting details:

User: Give me the details from John's comments

AI: [Retrieves transcript] John's comments in the meeting:

"I think we should prioritize the mobile app..." "The timeline seems aggressive but doable..."

What You Can Access

Meeting data includes full transcripts, speaker identification, timestamps, and duration. Meeting insights include action items, key topics discussed, questions asked, and decisions made.

You can search by participant, date range, keyword, or meeting title to quickly find the information you need.

Security

API keys are stored encrypted and never exposed to users—they're only used for authorized requests. Only your meeting data is accessed, content is not stored permanently, and all access is logged.

For best security, regenerate your API keys periodically, don't share keys with others, and use organization keys when possible for centralized management.

Troubleshooting

Invalid API key: Verify the key was copied correctly, check that the key hasn't expired, and generate a new key if needed.

No meetings found: Verify that your meetings are being recorded by Fireflies, check your search parameters, and confirm Fireflies is capturing your meetings.

Permission errors: Check your Fireflies account status, verify your API key permissions, and contact Fireflies support if issues persist.

Tips for Better Results

For better transcripts, ensure good audio quality in your meetings, use clear speaker identification, and follow proper meeting setup.

To find meetings efficiently, use specific keywords rather than broad terms, include participant names when you know them, and narrow date ranges to reduce results.

Organization Admin Setup

To enable Fireflies for your organization, go to Organization SettingsIntegrations, find the Fireflies integration, click Enable, and users can then connect with their API keys.

You can choose between individual API keys (each user provides their own key to access their meetings) or a shared organization key (providing access to all meetings in the organization). Choose based on your privacy requirements and organizational needs.
